The EEA-PAM-513-A-32 is an amplifier card that is part Vickers EEA-PAM-5**-A-32 power amplifier series. Vickers became part of Eaton in 1999. Vickers is well known for their expertise in the design and production of state-of-the-art hydraulic equipment. This versatile device can work with many different proportional valves, including the KCG-3, 1* series, KCG-6/8, 1* series, and KX(C)G-6/8, 1* series.
A standard Eurocard design is used for the EEA-PAM-513-A-32. The card also has five voltage inputs and a current input ranging from 0-20 mA. There are multiple adjustments that can be made for deadband compensation and gain that allow easy tuning of the amplifier. The power amplifier also includes a ramp function generator that can be switched on and off by using the ramp enable control. The ramp function generator can be used to increase and decrease the output. Monitor points on this device’s front panel allow access to information regarding spool position and the conditioned command signal. LED indicators on the front panel also provide the user with active status information.
This amplifier card has reverse polarity protection, protection from short circuits, and a built in safeguard from overloads. To prevent damage from overloads, the amplifier automatically resets whenever an overload is detected. The device has input power supply of 24V and a control voltage of 15V. The amplifier also shuts down if the voltage drops below 18V. To increase the efficiency of the device, pulse width modulation is used. The amplifier is also electromagnetic compatible. Plug-in modules are available for the device that can enable new features or special functions.
